Mental illness encompasses a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect mood, thinking and behavior. The World Health Organization states that there can be “no health without mental health” so understanding the issues surrounding mental illness and how it impacts legal proceedings is important. This seminar discusses how mental illness is diagnosed, how it impacts a person, how a mediator can be aware of mental illness, and how to accommodate parties with mental illness in mediation.
